the photos that weren't

I've been having a lot of success finishing things up lately. Unfortunately, the weather hasn't been very cooperative - harsh sunlight (even in the early morning) and crazy, mad wind have ruined several photo shoots. Usually, I just wait it out. But this has been going on for about a month now and a girl's gotta move on (and ship quilts!)

What I wouldn't give for some New England or Midwest spring weather right about now...

How do you deal with bad photo weather?

  1. Oh, but in New England, we struggle to take indoor photos at least 5 months out of the year to stay out of the snow-rain-sleet horror. :) And it gets dark at 3 pm. That is, if the sun has decided to show up at all. But then, yeah, I have the beach, the city, the woods, the rhino all to work with right now, so life is good. I think your photos are great. Thanks for sharing outtakes--I think outtakes are hilarious.

  4. Outdoor pics are the hardest! It seems wherever I go the wind is whipping these days! Sometimes, though, the outtakes are even better :)

  7. It's so frustrating when your trying to get good pictures and for some reason or another it all isn't working out. Maybe, hopefully your weather will cooperate with you soon!

  8. Crazy mad wind is an every day occurence here in Windy Wellington. You just need a patient quilt holder and to take lots and lots and lots of photos. At least a couple will be good. Direct sunlight is the worst - when I have no other option, I find it's better to take pictures in the shade and then edit them to look brighter. You can't really do the reverse with bright sunlight :-( The alternative is to take them inside somewhere with diffused light. Good luck - I hope you get some good photo weather soon!

  9. Yep this happens to me, a lot! Between the blazing sun or the total lack of it, and the wind......ugh. I have no solutions, other than hold out for that big lotto win so I can have the perfectly lit studio :-)

And oh my gosh, Fleury is huge!!!!!
